Your Most Cost-Effective Electric Vehicle Charging

Install an electric car charging point at home. The best option to save the most and get the maximum benefit from this technology. Currently, the energy prices at public charging points can be significantly higher compared to domestic rates due to maintenance and amortization costs.

Public charging points can be significantly higher than domestic rates due to the associated maintenance and depreciation costs.

Extended Lifespan of Electric Cars

Frequent rapid charging of the battery is not recommended. Add a charging station at home or at your business and adapt it to your needs. You can perform slow charges overnight and extend the lifespan of your electric vehicle’s battery.

Make informed decisions and ensure efficient and safe charging for your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle with Solarta Balear, certified electrician installer Nº35480.

At Solarta, we carry out installations in compliance with the regulations set by the Low Voltage Electrical Code (ICT-BT 52 standard) regarding the installation of charging points.

Easily control your electric vehicle charger with Solarta’s intelligent energy management system

Configure different charging modes and adjust them to your needs and requirements.

  • Eco Mode: In this mode, the electric vehicle only charges when there is a surplus of solar energy.
  • Priority Mode: This charging mode is used when the electric vehicle needs to be charged as quickly as possible at maximum power.
  • Comfort Mode: In this mode, the vehicle is charged over an extended period with lower power.

With intelligent dynamic charging control, we regulate the charging power without ever exceeding the power contracted for the installation. If more energy is needed to charge the vehicle, lower-priority devices can be disconnected.

For all the products we install, we trust in strong partnerships and always seek companies with quality products and reliable after-sales service.

We install the electric vehicle chargers provided by the photovoltaic solar inverter supplier to ensure optimal communication with the solar system (SMA, FRONIUS…).

If there is no solar system, we look for solutions with other providers such as Wallbox, Loxone…

Charging Speeds for Electric Cars

Choose the charging speed based on your mobility needs and the time you’re willing to dedicate to charging your vehicle. Faster chargers are useful if you’re in a hurry, but they may also require a more robust power infrastructure.

Charging speeds vary depending on the charging power and connector used. See table-image (which table?).

* Slow Charging. Provides low-voltage charging and is suitable for overnight home charging. It’s the slowest option but typically sufficient for domestic use.

  • Slow Charging. Provides low-voltage charging and is suitable for overnight home charging. It’s the slowest option but typically sufficient for domestic use.
  • Normal Charging = Semi-fast. Offers moderate charging suitable for most daily drivers. It can recharge an electric vehicle over several hours.
  • Fast Charging. Provides significantly faster charging and is ideal for long trips. Fast car chargers are commonly found at service stations and rest areas.
  • Ultra-fast Charging. These chargers provide extremely fast charging and are ideal for quick top-ups on long routes. However, they are less common than fast chargers.

Charging Modes for Vehicles in the Balearic Islands

Charging modes for cars refer to how your electric vehicle communicates and interacts with the power grid. These modes are essential to ensure efficient and safe charging.

The choice of charging mode will depend on the type of car battery charger you’re using and the technology your vehicle supports. The more advanced modes provide greater efficiency and safety during charging.

  • Mode 1. The most basic mode, with no active communication with the power grid. Mainly used for low-power charging through domestic sockets.
  • Mode 2. Includes some communication with the power grid and is typically used for enhanced home charging with control devices. The regulation is based on not exceeding the contracted power.
  • Mode 3. The communication with the power grid is more advanced and is used in public and private chargers. Regulation is broader, considering factors like the possible use of solar energy. Allows for more precise charging management and provides real-time data.

Charging point for electric vehicles in Mallorca. Individual or communal?

Request a quote

Electric car charging point in a single-family home

There are two options:

  • Connect the car directly to the 16A household socket without the need for a charging station. The downside is that charging happens at low power, it’s less safe, and charging times are longer.
  • Install a wallbox or wall-mounted charging point with an exclusive circuit (maximum 9.2 kW) connected to the individual meter. If the electric car has a high-capacity battery, it may be worth considering installing a more powerful car charger and contracting additional power.

If the garage is not in the same building as the house, the charging point will need to have its own meter.

Installing a charging point in a community garage

The Horizontal Property Law (Ley de Propiedad Horizontal), in its article 17.5, facilitates the installation of an electric car charging point in a community garage for private use.

No approval from the neighbors is required. It is only necessary to inform the community in writing of the intention to install this charging point in the privately owned parking space.

The car charger will be connected directly to the home’s meter, which will require the necessary installation work.

  • Authorization from the community is only needed if the installation requires a connection to a community meter or if it involves a pre-installation in the building.
  • It is recommended to carry out a common pre-installation for the entire garage to ensure sufficient supply as demand increases. This possibility must be voted on at the homeowners’ meeting.
